GOLD AND SILVER MEDALLION

Commemorative Medallion For the Collector, Gift Giver,
or Serious Investor

In 1982, the Eastern Oregon Mining Association (EOMA) commissioned the Northwest Territorial Mint with minting 1000 one ounce silver medallions, in 999 fine purity. The dies for this minting were destroyed after the minting to ensure the high price that these collectibles now bring. Originally minted to commemorate EOMA's 75th anniversary and the 100 year history of Baker City, they were introduced to members and friends of the association. Popular demand, however, dictated their sale to the general public. Accordingly, since 1988, EOMA has commissioned the minting of several hundred medallions, with current dates, and a revised reverse side, each year. In most years, they have sold out, or down to a very limited number left, which in turn increases the value of those held by collectors and investors. The limited number minted, and the quality of these medallions have caused the value to increase each year, and some have now been priced at over three times their original price.

The current 2006 silver medallion sells for $20.00, with one dollar extra for postage and handling, which covers the cost of their minting and a very small profit for the support of the Eastern Oregon Mining Association. As new mintings are commissioned, they will be advertised here first, so that members and serious investors and collectors may have an early opportunity to continue their collections.

Again, in 1982, EOMA also commissioned the Northwest Territorial Mint to strike a small number of 2 ounce gold medallions. These beautiful coins have also increased dramatically in value, and now bring as much as four times their original cost. They are extremely rare on the market, and difficult to find, but occasionally one is made available through EOMA for the very serious collector. Along with the 2 ounce strikes, EOMA for several years made available a very limited number of 1 ounce cast native gold coins. A very limited number of these coins sometimes becomes available to EOMA supporters.

Below is a table showing, as of this date, the mintages, their availability and current value. If you are interested in obtaining more information, please e-mail me as shown at the bottom of the page, or telephone me at (541) 276-8807 or (541) 276-8015. Please do NOT send me money or a credit card number as I have no security system in force here. Call or e-mail me and I''ll tell you how to order one of our beautiful coins.

@ - NOTE: Very limited numbers of these coins were minted. EOMA currently holds only one of each vintage in the archives and cannot sell them, however, occasionally a member with an extra coin will consider parting with it. The price will generally run from 2 to 3 times spot bullion gold price, but must be negotiated individually. + - NOTE: EOMA currently holds none of these coins. Availability is strictly through the members who may have an extra one to sell. Prices are between 4 and 5 times spot gold bullion price, but must be negotiated individually.
